Patrick Paul René, a self-taught photographer, was born in 1964 and raised in the Dauphiné region of France. He grew up wandering the Alps and developed a strong passion for hiking and exploring. He first became interested in photography when his parents brought him to visit the American Southwest in the summer of 1982 and in a sense he never left. Over the next two decades he became entranced with the wild desert beauty of the Colorado Plateau and returned many times to capture his images. He now uses his large format field camera exclusively which suits his style and personality.
Patrick and his wife, Judy, reside in Moab, Utah.

" It is the possibility of capturing perfection in a photograph that keeps my passion high and my vision in tune with the desert's solitude and beauty.
